You know you’ve reached adulthood when you’re excited about buying a new mattress. This was maybe more of a realization that I need to pay attention to my health in more ways than just staying fit and eating healthy. I was starting to realize I wasn’t having great night's sleep and waking up real sore some days.

It’s MAYBE (more like definitely) time to think about buying a new mattress. My current one has certainly seen better days. It is a hand-me-down from my parents when they bought a new one about 10 years ago! Who knows how long they had it... but then I toted that thing to Sarnia, Windsor, Kitchener, St. Catharines and back to Sarnia. I’ve moved that mattress 10 times in the last 10 years. Yes, that is how many times I’ve moved in the last 10 years!

I was intrigued by the concept of a mattress showing up in a box at my front door. So I did my research comparing Endy, Douglas and Casper. All had some kind of deal to get something free or heavily discounted along with the mattress and they all had great reviews. I obviously couldn’t lay on it to try it out, and after reading reviews they seemed to be on a fairly level playing field in terms of comfort. So I looked to the price... and Douglas won the fight coming in the cheapest.

Eight days and $885 later, my new mattress showed up! I was thrilled to take my old mattress off my bed, so side-kick Amy came by to give me a hand. I guess you could say I got a little excited and when Amy wasn’t ready at the bottom of the stairs I launched it right passed her and into my WALL. There is now a rather large and gaping hole in my wall and I don’t have a picture frame large enough to cover it…

It’s been two weeks now and I’m loving the comfort of my new mattress. But I didn’t at first! I woke up so sore the first couple nights and thought to myself oh no, did I make a huge mistake buying this mattress? No I did not, but it certainly took some getting used to. Sleepless nights of tossing and turning are now magical sleep filled nights. I wake up feeling ready for the day.

I haven’t heard anyone say they don’t like their mattress in a box, so I’d say it’s worth a shot if that’s what you’re in the market for. Happy Shopping!
